Also sold as "Golden Transparent Gage". European gage plum (Prunus domestica) raised by Thomas Rivers in Hertfordshire, UK from open-pollinated Transparent Gage seed, introduced 1890; RHS First Class Certificate 1893. Bred for a cool, humid UK climate - watch for brown rot risk in Texas summer heat/humidity. Hardiness sources disagree (zone 4 vs. 5-10); treat zone 5-9 as the safer working range.
